camwyn: (Aww doggie)

There has been at least one person in every train car I have taken since Friday who has been reading, or at least holding, a copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I bought my copy yesterday, but I'm not reading it yet. I'm not allowed to read it until I finish the latest chapter of "Who Ya Gonna Owl?".

On a side note, yesterday's trip into New York City was quite fun. I met [livejournal.com profile] sdelmonte and [livejournal.com profile] batyatoon and quite a few other people from [livejournal.com profile] milliways_bar whose LJ names elude me, and we spent much of the day pootling around Manhattan. The topic came up of characters we played and how much we were like them, or they like us, and [livejournal.com profile] sdelmonte suggested it might not be a bad idea to grow as a roleplayer by trying to play characters that were nothing like us.

I found myself wondering about this, not the least because I've played both Sergeant Preston of the Yukon and John Constantine, who are nothing at all like each other. Those of you who know anything about my roleplaying history: which of my characters, think you, is the most like me? The least? I can find something of myself in just about any of the characters I've played, so I thought I should ask for the opinion of someone outside my own skull.

I was thinking The Ghostbusters, myself. I was going to say Ray because you're smart and on the whole an extremely nice person, but you have way more clue about--well, everything else--than Ray does. Which makes you like Venkman. But Venkman hasn't got the profound "o/~I'm smarter than you areo/~ vibe, which makes you like Egon. Plus, you have Winston's common sense.

Well...I would have to say Dave Grishin

I'd have to say Dave, largely because you seemed to get a real joy from playing him. He definately has your quirky sense of humor and mischief, and I think if you had a job or hobby that required it you could get the patter he puts out there pretty easily.

I agree with a previous comment, you are as Ray, IMO.

And continue your crossover! I want to read it the next chapter. HBP will destroy many conceptions and create now ones such as...

Spoilers! Not very big ones, I promise (chapter 2 spoilers).

Peter Pettigrew being Snape's bitch and housewife.

Well, with regards to the fic already written, don't forget about the turnover in the MOM, which is a spoiler for chapter 1.

Anyone got anything spoiled by the front cover, or dedication, etc?

They're not completely different -- both men are decidedly relentless.
