Went kayaking again today, in Manhattan.

Nothin' like standing in line for the next available single kayak (as opposed to a kayak for two people) and hearing the people who run the boathouse look over the rail at the water and speculate as to whether the large bobbing plastic bag tied in a knot contains a human head or not.

Went in anyway. I'd rather share the river with a head than put up with the swelter in my apartment. At least the bag had been knotted shut.

Yup. The Downtown Boathouse (pier 26, near Canal Street) offers free kayaking on the Hudson for 20 minutes at a time on Saturdays and Sundays, weather (and heads) permitting.

ya know, I'd probably grab the bag just to see... or talk someone into grabbing it so I could see.
Call me crazy, but, that's the type of thing that if it was *my* head, I'd want someone to find.

Alas, it had floated out of sight by the time I got my boat. I think it wound up under the dock, and we weren't allowed to go within twenty feet of the dock unless we were bringing our kayak in for the day.
