camwyn: (Real Life (stupid))

Right now I am working on labeling a map that is going to be part of my company's web site. I have just noticed something wrong with it: the entire nation of Japan is missing.

Seriously, there's nothin' south of Kamchatka except Sakhalin Island and the Koreas. Not until you hit the Philippines. It's like Gojira finally finished with Tokyo and decided it'd be good to go bugnuts all over the rest of the Pacific basin.

The previous map misplaced the island of Malta as being somewhere squarely in the middle of the nation of Tunisia, but that is no reason to sacrifice the entire island chain of Japan, thank you very much.

And it's not like Japan is a wee thing either; it would be easier to forget about putting in Hawaii than it would be Japan.

So, did you bring it to anyone's attention? Or are are they just going ahead with the extra crappy map instead of a crappy map?

Perhaps Japan was originally an inset and they forgot to give you that bit?

I would check with Granny Weatherwax about this.

Actually, the map is correct, just ahead of its time. Japan sinks at 9:37 next Monday. The root cause is not the seismic shift that the scientists try to point to, but instead because of a psychic gestalt where all everyone in country at the moment is thinking, "This is absolutely the worst Monday there will ever be." The force of the collective thinking is so strong reality decided to go along for the ride. The only entities holding up the whole process are a couple of very contented, very amorous squids who at precisely 9:36 discover the purpose of life is not to make lots of little squids but is in fact to be luncheon special.

On the bright side, it's going to be the trigger for the secret Japanese tech research programs to come out into the open. Loss of life will be minimal thanks to the quick doming of the cities and towns, and shortly thereafter, the first giant underwater robots will come into play.

So Monday's not going to be very good for them, but Tuesday's going to rock.

Grandmother has launched the entire island chain into space to fight the Spider Alien armada! ...wait, that's not due until 4000 AD.

All that comes to mind are bad Godzilla jokes.

No, I'm not telling you what they are. They're really bad 'Zilla jokes.

we aim to please....

we also need to go to the range more often, as we usually get 'dumbstruck' instead...

Okay, that's not quite so bad. Nonetheless, the phrase "hadn't noticed Japan was missing" taken out of context is still making me giggle-fit.

Which is probably a sign I need sleep. *wry*

You sure someone didn't switch out a VMA map for you? I mean, I see no reason why suddenly a woman at the bus stop should start happily chatting to me about visiting Tibet --or why the Spectral Voices are crooning in glee right now either so...

Japan had just been wiped off the face of the earth, that's all.

Fwah! How very World War Two.

Maybe it was just a touch to see if you were paying attention. You know how sneaky the Spectral Voices get. By the way, there's pictures from China courtesy of my dad who just got back from there. Yes, Fuo Shan area. I'll point you to 'em after I get all 80 of them sized, cropped, and named.

Wong Fei Hung territory. Scary huh?

Maybe your VM:A party decided that they didn't like the mission and found a way to sink the islands before paddling home in a rowboat and denying everything? :-)
