Went over to beliefnet.com and took their Belief-o-Matic quiz. I've run through this puppy a few times before and been mildly annoyed at the result because they left out questions like 'my religion should require certain culturally bound practices, languages, etc.', which would have ruled out their usual top choice for me (Sikhism- I like cutting my hair, and I don't know any Punjabi at all). I didn't fiddle as much with the 'very important' versus 'not important' aspect of each question, though, so this was my result this time.

I had to smile just a bit at the top choice, given that I'm going to be talking with the Lutherans next door about their doctrines and stuff really soon. I'm also midly surprised about how high up my native church scored, but I suppose that might have dropped a bit if there had been questions like 'do you believe in Satan at all', 'do you believe in original sin', etc.

That's how mine always falls out. Top three have always been your top three, in that order.

Oh, I've really been strongly influenced by the EO in a lot of my beliefs, especially in my views of the trinity and of salvation.

I haven't taken it lately, but the last few times I took it, Orthodox Judaism beat Sikhism in a photo finish, and both were way ahead of the pack.

Here's a site that explains the difference pretty much how I understand them. (look at point 5)

I have a problem with the substitutionary model of redemption that is pretty much accepted by Western Christianity. What most fail to realize is that that's spelled out that way in the Bible at all - that thought was develped by Anselem in the 1200s. (http://www.iep.utm.edu/a/anselm.htm look under 'theology'.)

Thankfully, I don't really cut my hair anyway, but I don't know how to wrap a turban. ^_^

Although the practice of Sikhism seems to be, especially in Britain, heavily contaminated by Hindu-Indian culture (cf Bend it Like Beckham), the complete gender-neutral ideals are nearly irresistable for me. Add the hair and the martial art... :D

Wish I could find a congregation around here. There must be one, but they don't really advertise.

1. Neo-Pagan (100%)
2. Unitarian Universalism (86%)
3. New Age (77%)

Heh. Sikhism is #9, and what I was tortured with during high school with is third from the bottom and lower than 25%.

[canadianism] Hmmm, no hockey listed? Tsk [/canadianism]
