camwynCalled Verizon to-day to find out about my DSL service- there was supposed to be some milestone last night but the status on the web page hadn't changed. I was then told that 'one week' after dial tone begins is measured in business days- and that this isn't to the start of service but the start of testing. Which can take seven to ten days.
"That's BULL," I exclaimed to the fellow on the phone. "I was told-"
As I start rambling about what I was told and how long it's been, etc., I suddenly catch myself thinking that rage is not really very polite. So when the guy started saying that he could understand why I felt that way but, I took a deep breath and waited for him to finish. I then asked him about whether there was a Verizon dial-up I could use in the meantime.
When I get home, as soon as I hook up a modem, I have an ID and a password to use. I just have to call the people at tech support and get them to help me reconfig a few things on the computer. And as long as I cancel within thirty days, it's free.
The Canadian way just beat the New York way.
