Having done some really dumb things with soldering irons over the years, I must note that when soldering irons *don't* hurt, you've *really* got a problem.
Now that I think of it, it's actually arc welders that I'd be referring to. I'd say it's damned difficult to harm yourself directly, since they depend on being able to run a current between the positive and negative clamps, but they're a bitch as far as indirect damage is concerned.
LMAO. And yet I can attest to that fact. Having grabbed the business end of one. Also, I once had an aluminum kettle that I boiled away all the water in, and it melted onto the stove. I picked it up and bits of liqiud aluminum dropped onto my skin and burned straight down, damn quick. I'm amazed I don't have more scars to show for it.
And yet still I get giddy as a schoolgirl, thinking about blowing glass. Heh. Some of us never learn. Fire it hot. Burn Og. Ow.

Since I have a thing for old, small (ungrounded) tube amps, I've learned a little about electric shocks, too.
Welding torches, I haven't done.
