The Sims 2 University will ship this March and gives players of The Sims 2 the ability to watch their Sims become young adults and put childhood behind them as they settle into an all-new college town to live out their ultimate college fantasy.

Sorry, but I just don't get the fascination with the Sims. Maybe because I didn't/don't have to simulate having and raising children? I suppose I'll just have to chalk it up as another of the unfathomables of the universe along with why people care about Ridge Forrester. Glad you enjoy it. If it makes you happy....

Possible, possible. Me, I've always been fascinated with the 'god games'- you know, Populous, Sim Life (an experiment in evolving artificial life-forms), Black and White, etc. I get a certain amount of charge out of making the tiny people do my bidding. I also get one out of discovering all the extra things they can do, the little neat bits of code the programmers left around for me to find...

Ah. Playing GOD. Hadn't thought about that. I played SimCity for awhile, because I liked seeing what happened as the city grew. I was also very interested to see that the programmers favoured rail traffic over roads, and nuclear over electric energy, and things like that. So, your fascination begins to make more sense. As a total non-geek, I wouldn't know a bit of code if I fell over it (except for html). But I can see where the programmers would be having a bit of fun with 'in-jokes' for fellow programmers. Playing SimCity I *did* discover there was a way to get more funds from the program for building the city than were supposedly 'allowed', and that was fun. Don't have time at the moment for playing computer games, although the continuation of FFX is very tempting. And the new Myst... but, I want to finish my novel, and the baby quilt, and I've 300 exams to mark soon, and... I don't know how you do it, camwyn, all your writing full-time job with a long commute, and your wide LJ correspondence AND computer games!

Hm. Well, as it stands at the moment, anybody who actually works in the Sims gets paid fairly well. The Slacker, Law Enforcement, and Culinary career tracks kind of get shafted pay-wise. There's no Teacher track yet, though I imagine one will crop up with the extra careers in this pack. Disease is cured by either taking the day off and sleeping late or using a certain item to make up a batch of medicine, so health insurance never comes up.

As for showing up at the same time, right now school in the game is structured such that either you show up not at all, or at the same time as the rest of the attendees. The only way to school is via bus, and the only way to work is via car pool. (Even if you're in a military job.) So that's as close as they're gonna get.

Well, I don't have that much extra time at this point. The computer games are currently taking up a chunk of my time, but they'll fade into the background soon enough so I can write more, since that's more important and entertaining. Even I can only do so much.
