Removed my CD drive this morning. Went to work. Couldn't get the DVD drive out of my co-worker's computer. Will do that tomorrow. Came home, powered up computer, discovered that Victor did NOT want to wake up without his CD drive. More specifically, despite all manner of fiddling with cables and such, Victor believed that he did not HAVE a hard drive. The Plextor burner, yes, the HD, no...
Ultimately got pissy and cleared the CMOS memory, then rebooted. Lo and behold, everything autodetected. We're up and running.
We'll see about DVD for Victor tomorrow. Right now I gotta go wipe off the dust. I rarely get to clean up the desk, especially not behind or around the computer, so now I have interesting grey smudges all over and quite a bit of stuff on the floor. What a mess.
But it's a *working* mess. Happy tinker, me. I'd say tinker gnome only I don't think gnomes grow much past five feet tall, and I'm well beyond that.
Update, 10:52 PM: BAD tinker. BAD. NO bikkit. Guess who forgot to reset the year after flushing the CMOS clock? *mutter*
