I'm starting to think this is an attack on John by the guy who blasted him into the Potterverse in the first place (or some other extradimensional doppleganger). It seems to me that Voldemort likes killing with his own hands too much to send bombs. Also, the technique fit too well into what John was familiar with from his world. Add to that that the attacks were on the two people outside of Hogwarts who John seemed to have the most contact with...
All I can really say at this point is: not everyone evil in the world can be Voldemort. Only one person could be Voldemort, and the position's already been filled...
There's one thing that comes back to hit me time and time again. Is this happening when OotP is? If so, what is Hagrid doing in London and not in the Mainland with a certain other Half-Giant?
Constantine was never the target, Constantine isn't even connected with the bomb other than tangentially (although via multiple tangents, as he is of the nature of a catalyst). His identification of objects served to increase the object-finding frenzy of poor Weasley, in the process of which Weasley stumbled over something of great importance to someone. It was because of his hurry to have this object inspected by Constantine that he met up with him that day, and requested the meeting at the bar. That the package was delivered directly to Weasley clearly indicates he was the prime target, as does his rapid identification of it. Perhaps the intent was not to destroy Weasley himself, but the object in his possession.
Despite the owl, this does not smack of wizardry in the least. Any wizard worth their wand should be able to do more damage than that without resorting to such mundane tactics. Please pardon my avoiding the pumpkins.
Dumbledore hired Constantine not so much out of needing a teacher with experience as out of seeing opportunity in the presence of a teacher with such different experience. One who could, perhaps, see solutions to the current novel predicament that others would overlook. It was truly novel, being an unprecedented combination of muggle and wizard methods with many unforeseen aspects and abilities, yet there was a certain resemblance to what he knew Constantine had seen, from which he drew hope for the new teachers fortuitous assistance. He forgot to take into account the new teacher's luck.
Can not wait until classes start and we see Con-Job's teaching methods. An annoying facet of my twisted mind has asserted itself once again. When I read frelling good WIP's, I start getting ideas for plot twists and feel compelled to map them out in my mind. Right now, my muse is chuckling over the idea for a class project which would drive the students batty. I keep telling my muse that it's no use giving me inspiration for other people's fic, but he just snickers at me and keeps doing it. ;)
Ok, what I think what happend is this: When said doppleganger shot John out of his world, it caused a bit of a universal rip/rift/wormhole/whatever. If a good person goes through said rip/rift/wormhole/whatever, a bad person also has to go through, too. But chance of luck(or seanse of humor) the person was an enemy of Johns. Since they both landed in different places, John got found by the good guys (duck will find duck) and said bad guy got found by the Death Eaters. (For all I know, they might have landed during a Death Eater meeting.) That person knew about Johns catalystic abilitys, and knew it would nip John in the butt if a bomb killed somebody he knew. They told Voldemort how to make one, or made it themselfs, and then sent it by owl.
*Muse gets of chair, and give Melinda the computer back* Thanks.
Hey, the only thing I've ever read with him in it was this and another fanfiction, which sums up my whole Hellblazer reading. From what I can tell from this fanfiction, he's a good guy, but only because there is nobody else to do the job.
I don't think that Arthur and Nymphadora were attacked by Death Eaters. The attack *is* too close to Muggle terrorist tactics, amd the Death Eaters just don't seem to think that way -- personal one-on-one attacks and ganging up on Muggles seem to be more their style.
Frankly, I'd expect the witch-raised to be wholy ignorant of Muggle tactics like mass volleys, time-delayed bombing, and the like.
But it does seem as if someone is going after Order members, or possibly outspoken pro-Muggle Ministry workers.
John and Snape might actually have a lot in common, but getting them to compare notes is unlikely at best.
