I have this vague and terrible urge to see John react to the edict of Hogwarts Professors Who Are Not Hagrid Or Firenze Wear Robes by deciding 'fine, but if they make me wear a hat I'm going to find the place Elton John used to get his outfits made up...'

"What in Merlin's name is that on your head?"
"D'you know the Muggle term 'pimp hat'?"

Won't happen, of course. Though I think he'll contemplate it in a Notes section- right up to the point where he realises Dumbledore will almost certainly make him wear the damn thing on a regular basis.

There's a scene in the Miyazaki movie 'Pom Poko' where the tanuki characters are eagerly awaiting the arrival of three shapeshifting masters. The camera switches from the tanuki to three old, bearded human guys wearing all kinds of ludicrously 'I am Too Old and Too Cool to Care What You Think' patterned attire. No pimp hats, but stripes and Hawaiian shirts and Elton Johnish sunglasses.

When I first saw this scene I poked one of my friends in the ribs and said, "Look! Dumbledore, (someone else whose name eludes me just now), and Jerry Garcia!"

Given some of the things people have said about John- and when I say 'people' I am thinking 'the fallen Archangel Gabriel'- it really would be the embodiment of his positive thoughts if it peed on someone, wouldn't it?

Not all of the faculty wear the hats, though, if I remember correctly? So he wouldn't necessarily have to, I suppose. Although the thought of a pimp hat would be really funny. :)
