Today we made Easter food.
Apr. 10th, 2004 06:41 pmWe made calzones at my house today. They involve ricotta and parmesan cheese, and ham and salami and sausage. I accidentally nicked one of my knuckles with the knife and bled a tiny bit into one of the meats before realizing and heading off to bandage up. Later on, I had to peel and devein a pound and a half of shrimp.
Meat and dairy in the same food product. Animal with cloven hooves that does not chew cud. Blood in the food. Blood of a living creature in the food. And stuff that swims in the sea but does not have fins and scales.
The only way I can think of to make today more treyf (since the cheese was not kosher and probably involved enzymes from calves, thereby violating 'baby animal in its mother's milk' rule) would be to throw in an owl. Possibly certain types of insect. That, or ensure that the pigs involved in making the sausage were slaughtered on the same day as their offspring.
