Still working on the stories
Feb. 27th, 2004 03:56 pmeven though I haven't posted anything in the last few days. Been busy. Should have some Hellblazer: Hogwarts soon, and some Diary of a Mountie.
Gave blood today. The tech got the needle in okay, but I think she put it in upside down or something- at least that's what I thought I heard her say to the other tech before they adjusted it. This was not my favourite donation episode, I can say that safely. I don't like it when I can feel the needle that strongly. Still, I was overdue to donate and if they take the needle out early then your donation is over and you can't give again for 56 days, so after they did their best to set it right (not entirely successfully) I smiled and did my best to concentrate on the clangity-clang noises from the donor centre's TV. The techs had been watching Gladiator when I came in. Wanted to know if I wanted them to change it. I said nah, didn't bother me. Most of the scenes going by involved the Gaulish undefeated champion anyway, and it's not like that was a particularly gory scene or anything.
Beginning to get the hang of the footwork changes in s... se... um. Good lord. My karate instructor's never told us how to spell the name of the kata we're working on. Seiyuchin? That's how it sounds. We worked on that a lot last night. I have to be fully proficient in seizan (again, have not been told how to spell it) and competent in this kata, plus the seizan applications sequence, before I can test for blue belt. Doubt that'll happen for a while yet as I haven't been orange all that long. Still.
French classes start on 8 March. Whee! Also,
ocean_song's sweater proceeding apace. Am working on sleeve 1 of 2 at the moment. Must knit both sleeves to 17 inches long, then join them in and knit the rest of the sweater in the round as a yoked design. I like the look, myself- the yoked look, I mean. Seamless as possible v. cool thing in a sweater.
Must get box and ship mom's big bag o' Caron Perfect Match to Under Wraps Shawl Ministry. Lovely people. They knit shawls, hats, baby clothes, etc. for victims of domestic violence, and I sure don't need the yarn. (Mom tried to knit an afghan a few years ago and had to stop partway in. Most of the yarn she bought remains untouched to this day.)
So damn tired. No big surprise, as I'm a pint low, but still.
Glad the weekend's coming.
