I realise I didn't do a gamepost today.
Jul. 30th, 2003 11:50 pmSorry. Brain was elsewhere, didn't feel properly creative. However, towards the end of the day an idea occurred to me for about the second or third time. I've run it past three people-
batyatoon,
mephron, and
utsuri- so far and it's broken all of their brains, so I might as well pass it to you.
Take our League group. Look at the characters real good. Look at the vast mix of genres you've got goin' there. Now let's say you wanted to add just a bit of superhero action, right? Right. How do we do that? Cosmic rays from space? Radioactive spiders? Secret origins? Nah. All you need to commit crossover havoc with this merry gang is two little words:
Abin Sur.
Showtime, folks! Green Lanterns other than Alan Scott had to be 'honest and without fear'. Pick your candidate in our little group!

Date: 2003-07-31 08:43 am (UTC)However, a man with a secret identity, like Lamont Cranston/The Shadow, or a secret past, like Hugo Danner, would out. Dorothy is not too oyung to be a GL - Arisia was a teen Lantern in the 1980s - but with other choices, she'd be out.
Mary is a magic wielder. That is not something the Guardians endorse.
That leaves Wimsey, Tom Swift and Sgt. Preston. No good reason not to choose Lord Peter, but no compelling one, either.
The tiebreaker might be Sgt. Preston's career as a mountie. He's already a lawman, and so the leap to being a GL might be short. However, Tom has a great imagination, and that is of some advantage for ring use. I'd give it to him.
