MRN, as it happens, stands for 'medical records number'.
If Massachusetts General Hospital issues you a blue plastic card with your MRN on it, you should really keep track of it, and you should definitely make sure it's in your possession when you leave the subway system.
I'll be bringing the one I found yesterday back to MGH at lunch today. There's other personally identifiable information on that card and I don't think anyone wants it going astray.
