Dear United States Government, both past and present:

You have interesting tastes in names for your splodey-go-bang tests, both nuclear and non-nuclear alike. I'd like to thank you for that, because I am far too easily amused, and because personally, I find perfectly ordinary names that have nothing particularly meaning-laden or ominous about them to be far more disturbing after the fact than Big Damn Meaningful ones.

I will admit that Minor Scale and Misty Picture, which were both non-nuclear, have more 'brr' about them after the fact than Project Dribble, which rendered Mississippi the only state east of the Mississippi that the government saw fit to nuke. (Twice.) But still.

(Side note: this is the Minor Scale explosion. It is generally considered "the largest planned conventional explosion in the history of the free world". The grey thing in the foreground, on the left, is an F-4 Phantom jet. It's 63 feet long.)

(They did say in the notes on the project that there were no plans for a test called Major Scale after this.)

New game!
