Apparently it was around nineteen degrees out today. I say 'apparently' because it was really hard to tell through the Polish military overcoat I got after the Captain Jack Harkness coat sold out on Sportsman's Guide. Six pounds of wool coat goes a long way up here.

It does, however, have two drawbacks as a garment. One is that the collar is still very stiff and tends to dig into the back of my neck if I'm wearing a turtleneck or cowlneck sweater or if I lean back against the wall of the train when I'm on the T. The strap across the lower back is a lesser annoyance along the same lines. I suppose this will fade over time as I wear the coat more and break it in. The other problem is that while I do fit into it, and it does not look small on me, it was cut for a man. It's really snug across the chest if I wear a sweater underneath it. Then again, it's warm enough that I'm not sure I even need to wear sweaters while I've got this thing on, as long as my shirts have long sleeves and high necklines or turtlenecks.

Overall a pretty good overcoat, and sharp-looking. I'll deal. (Especially since for some reason, both the winter boots I bought and the crosstrainer Keen shoes I got are almost perfect color matches for it, and so are the office shoes I've preferred at work for the past year and a half. Total coincidence, but I'm not going to object.)
