Dec. 3rd, 2010 08:01 amI just spent the past two days flattened with a sinus infection, or something that sure as hell felt like one, anyway. I'm still not well and I sound like an unholy cross between Miles Davis and GLaDOS, but I can talk enough to manage if I have to and I'm well enough/out of the contagious period enough to go to work. So I'm at the office and hoping for a quiet day where people don't phone me much.
I have brought my squeeze bottle with me along with several packets of solution for saline rinsing. I will be sticking objects up my nose and squeezing them so that water goes in one nostril and out the other several times today. The mere fact that I am doing this makes me wonder what the hell is up with the human species, because seriously, what. It's on the same order as 'Okay, now completely suppress your blink reflex and stick this hard object in your eye' and 'Yeah, we're not going to be able to do this examination until you go home and spend thirty days stretching that twice a day'. Or possibly 'This bottle full of grey stuff that normally gets used to take paint off walls, swallow some, okay?'.
But I do it because it works. Unnatural doesn't mean ineffective. It just means you take a few minutes to go 'Jesus, what' and then go ahead and do it anyway, and then you feel better.
