Feb. 14th, 2008 08:56 amHappy Dead Gangsters Day, y'all! Celebrate by renting something with Jimmy Cagney or Edgar G. Robinson in it, or Jackie Chan's "Miracles" if you're so inclined! Also, today is the Eve of the Feast of St. Mark Downs, the four-times-a-year holiday of stocking the freezer with heavily discounted candy.
... look, given how many people I know are of the 'Valentine's Day suxx0r' persuasion, I thought it might be good to have an alternative holiday that did not specifically encourage crankiness and railing about the Corrupt and Stupid and Commercial Nature of the Artificially Selected Joke of a Reference to a Dead Roman Guy and his Dead Roman Religious Celebrations. Far as I'm concerned it's Dead Gangster Day and St. Mark Downs Eve, and nobody has to disparage anybody for any reason whatsoever. Or arse themselves to explain the True Nature of St. Valentine/Lupercalia, either. Just watch some movies and prepare to buy candy.
