Doooooown go the computers, one by one by one. Off to the closet I go.

Three 48-port 3COM switches are blinking at me in evil unison.

2:33 PM, post-switching to TWO 48-port backup switches, switching extra cables to 16-port hub, switching old firewall that is not responding to any pings for shiny new firewall: "Praise Buddha!"

We still have several machines not on the network and some people unable to print, but my fellow IT worker (whose name I shall not give, but who is a very nice Aussie gentleman who bears a weird resemblance to Bill O'Reilly's Not-Evil Brother) is fiddling about in the server closet and I've yet to eat my lunch.

So I'm eating lunch. It's a crab cake sammitch, which the office provided. And the traders are thanking me.

I think I'm going to cry.

Fiddled with a few more cables. Got a few more computers to work. It looks, now, as if everybody is working. We may have a printer or two not up and running, but that's the extent of it, as far as I can tell.

And they're all really nice about it. And I can go home in a bit.

Yeah, I like this place.
