And the wheels begin turning.
Jun. 8th, 2003 11:41 amTried Hotwire for my trip to Alaska the other day. They couldn't come up with anything. Not at any price.
Tried Priceline last night. Neither adding willingness to fly redeyes, nor to take two or more stops, nor to fly on slightly different dates still within my time frame was enough to get my $600 bid accepted.
Tried Expedia. Expedia listed a bunch of flights at about $685, all of which included airline changes.
Tried http://www.alaskaair.com. Ticket price: $632. Taxes and fees: $67. I bought.
Will be flying out on Labor Day at 8:15, landing in Seattle, then flying out of Seattle and landing in Fairbanks at 4:19 PM local time. Flight back is on 16 September, leaves Fairbanks at 6:15, lands in Seattle. Flight then leaves Seattle at 1 PM and lands in NJ at around 9 local time. Had to accept an airline change on the leg home as the alternative was to fly out of Fairbanks at 1 AM which I was not really planning on doing.
Have already emailed hostels about reservations. Here goes nothin'.
