Still ugh.
Mar. 19th, 2003 11:15 amLeft side of head still v. clogged up. Back of neck all tense and tight. Most major sinuses feel blocked up too. Throat still sore esp. down back left side. Eyes still itchy. Suspect I have a sinus infection as urge to sneeze v. small rather than what one expects w/allergies.
Will let you know if somehow turns into SARS but that will happen the day they train barracudas to sing arias from Carmen.
Had v. surreal experience last night, not for first time. I went to Kean even though I didn't have to - mgmt./labor relations class currently divided into Mgmt. and Labor groups in prep for collective bargaining RP exercise, & yrs. truly is on Mgmt. team. Labor team was being briefed last night. Went to school, helped friend from Hubei Province work on personal statement for Ph.D. application program. Then we went to campus pool...
Have not thought of myself as athletic in years, just 'fit' or 'in decent shape'. But suddenly found I could swim almost twice as fast as someone, hold my breath three times longer, keep a straighter course in the pool, etc. Spent some time helping Xuequn work on freestyle swimming & how to position the head, also on kicking as she tends to do a neat scissor-kick and not much else. She's a foot shorter than me and four months older than me, but still - seems v. odd to suddenly be teaching someone my own age how to swim 'cos I'm better at it.
Will admit to certain urge to go home & reread pieces of Outlaws of the Marsh referring to Turbulent River Dragon. All these guys in Liangshan Marsh, with their different specialties. "I can throw rocks hard enough to knock a guy off a horse at fifty paces!" "I can kill tigers with my bare hands!" "I'm Li Kui!" <--- no explanation necessary if you have read the book "I do magic!" "I fight with a pair of swords each five Han feet long, and I'm a girl!" Then there's Turbulent River Dragon... "I can swim. Um. Real good."
Anyway. This post is nothing but wittering, those of you who have just added me to friends lists may ignore; many apologies, am not feeling entirely well. If I do not force creative juices to start flowing today I will never get any of my game posts done, so I am going to try to work on Iron Dog even though I just took a pill of pseudoephedrine HCl almost the size of my thumbnail.
Oh yeah, something that made me laugh: Xuequn and I arguing last Friday over going to see one movie (The Hours) or two (Bringing Down the House and The Hours, one after the other). She wanted to see both. I didn't want to be in the theatre that long as it was already nearly 9 PM.
Me: I don't want to see two movies! I don't need to! I haven't done that in years!
Her: Come on! It'll be fun! We go to Steve Martin movie, then go across theater and see The Hours!
Me: No!
Her: I'm older than you! You should respect your elders!
Me: I could crush your skull like a grape! I'm not going to two movies!
Well, that last sentence is debatable, as we were both dissolving in laughter at that point, but I distinctly remember the grape threat.
