Car's making bum-bum-bum-bum exhaust system noises. (Had my dad come and listen to the noise; his car made them a while ago and it required a muffler workup.) Gotta take it to the service station at some point, it's scaring me. I've had the car four years now, I suppose that's as long as anyone can hope to go without trouble...

Wondering if this has anything to do with the disappearing raccoon from a few days ago. (It ran in front of my car and I thought I felt a thump, but when I stopped the car and looked under and behind it, there was no sign of racoon anywhere.)

Not happy. Dad says this kind of thing can cost $300 or more. I still have to pay my tuition and I have car insurance coming due, too. Dammit.

Now if eBay will just let me start selling things again - it insists I need to create a new seller's account, even though I've sold already, but it won't let me... Oh, and I have to figure out how the hell to code up the Knuth-Morris-Pratt string matching algorithm in Perl, then adapt it to this week's project, too. oy.

Making evil exhaust noises, plus it's due for an oil change. Not looking forward to the bill, but I'll survive; my sister's VW is available for driving.

Funny... I forgot how to ride a bicycle when I was a kid. Seriously. I learned in the fall, then came winter, and come spring - WHAM. Couldn't balance to save my life. I had to have my friends re-teach me, and I wouldn't be able to get anywhere unless I started from the top of some incline or other. I eventually relearned and have been okay since, but it doesn't change the fact that I forgot how to ride a bicycle... and it doesn't explain at all the fact that, despite not having done so for anything other than backing out of the driveway or pulling into the driveway in THREE YEARS, I remember how to drive stick. The VW is a stick-shift Golf, and I tested myself out with it today - around the block, down to the cul-de-sac, up the big hill, down to the supermarket and drugstore, then home. Yup. It works, I work, all's good.

Forgot the bike, remembered the car. How bloody odd. At least this doesn't happen with my rollerblades.
