People talk about reading the funnies and laughing hardest at the strips that are 'so true', or that they see themselves in. I suppose, therefore, that I should be worried about this little beauty from King Features Syndicate:

Update: The strip involved Hawthorne the crab going to Meghan the shark and asking if she remembered the recipe for her inedible poundcake. Apparently it bounced and caused much damage when thrown or dropped. Hawthorne was doing quite well until he suddenly took up all of panel 3 with a demented expression and '...which will give me EXACTLY THE EDGE I NEED TO CONQUER THE HAIRLESS BEACH APES! MUAHAHHAA!'. I forget what Meghan said in panel 4, but Hawthorne answered with, 'Sorry. Missed my tyrant management class.'

I was curious, I wandered over to the Banned Books Week thing to have a look and see what's on it that I might've read. My list's comparatively short. I think this is mostly because I really didn't like young-adult books, and an awful lot of stuff on the list was targeted at that age group.

An order I placed with Amazon.com last week came in today. One textbook, one 'dammit, I want some entertainment' purchase.

I don't wanna put this in mu_wanted, because this isn't for a MUSH or anything, but...

I'm running a Mage play-by-email campaign, set in an alternate Earth's version of the late Victorian period. cadhla created this world, I just get to develop part of it. Right now I've got two players in the campaign and while they're both first-rate with their characters, I have a feeling the party could benefit with a few more people around. I certainly wouldn't mind taking on some more characters. So...
