I was dreaming when I wrote this, forgive me if it goes astray
But when I woke up this morning, thought this morning was Judgment Day...
Hoo, boy, what a morning this promises to be! I woke up straight from dream sleep, which I almost never do. I've been absorbing too much of my sister's search for an apartment for her and her fiance' to move to after they get married, because the dream involved weighing the fact that I'd be paying $35 US a month in rent versus the fact that I'd have to find a Red Cross job in, and be willing to live in, Russia. . . and I was seriously considering it, even though most Red Cross jobs over there deal primarily with tuberculosis. Highly detailed dream, which I like, but which makes it very disorienting to snap out of. Nobody else was awake, so I didn't have to wait for a go at the shower or interrupt anyone when I went through the paper for the comics section. (I'm entitled to read the funnies first. I spend most of my day picking up news from the BBC and Reuters Newswire.) I got out of the house early for me, and got to work early. Other than myself and the substitute receptionist* at the front desk, there was nobody there. Someone had managed to power off the servers during the night, so I got them restarted and logged in, and got myself a cup of the soy mocha I had in the fridge. (Nobody else in this office is willing to drink soy products, so I don't have to worry about my stuff bein' stolen. It's great.) And I managed to plop myself down in front of the Kean web site and register for class for this fall. . . one class, anyway. The other one I wanted is the MIS Capstone and that isn't available to me until I get the department head to sign my granted petition, and he won't be in until next Tuesday, when classes start. If they offer the Capstone next spring, I might see about taking it then along with my final elective, and registering for a language class instead. . . or I might just take a language class this semester as well, but somewhere like CCM** or Berlitz or the China Institute in Manhattan. The class I registered for is Special Topics in Computing, and I have it on good authority that Dr. Chang will be teaching bio-informatics this year. That'll be Tuesday nights, 7:50 to 10:30. The other class I need, the MIS Capstone, is Mondays from 5:00 to 7:40 - bit of a stretch to get to on time, but hey, I've done it before. I'll rearrange work if I have to in order to come in half an hour early and leave half an hour early.
Overall the day is very promising so far and I made the lady at the MIS Department laugh for real twice while I was asking her questions about the petition process, so that's a good sign. We'll see how it goes today. I've got the soy mocha all nice and cold, I've got karate class tonight, it's New Comics Day, and my deposit to the bank yesterday got there well before the check for my next six karate classes, so I have a net positive bank balance. I have the CD I burned for
cadhla of Fang's character soundtrack playing in the CD drive, which means I get both While the Earth Sleeps and Big Cat on one disc. Huzzah.

*We use this temp on a regular basis. I can't help but want to call Tempzilla - I've never heard anyone make more snarly, less enthusiastic announcements for people to pick up the phone, or inadvertently interrupt the Moment of Silence we had in honour of 9/11 last Dec. with '$CEO_NAME, PICK UP ON PARK ONE, $CEO_NAME, YOU'VE GOT A CALL AT PARK ONE'). I don't think she actually is as bitter as she sounds, it's just that she's got a rotten announcement manner.
