For once it's not me. Yesterday, Real Life Comics did a strip that featured an Og. I wanted to wait until today to put up the link so that it would point to the archival entry, not just www.reallifecomics.com.
Pretty much just thinking alike. My original use of Og was because I wanted a 'caveman' name for the rubber australopithecine that happened to be exactly the right size - namely, the size necessary to wear my Total Justice Green Lantern action figure's armor. The idea of something with a brain capacity of 750cc running around with universal power just cried out for a name along the lines of Og, Gronk, or similar.
I got the idea to use the specific name Og from the Internet Oracle, back in the days when it was just the Usenet Oracle. Periodically the omniscient Oracle would allow a caveman named Og to answer his email, or possibly Og's woman, Ogwa. However, this is not the same Og as my Og, nor is it necessarily the Og in Real Life Comics.
... well, okay, when I look at that paragraph, and when I remember the Weirdness Test that included 'do you have a nickname on the order of 'Og' or similar? do your gaming friends actually use this nickname for you? do you actually ANSWER to it?', I suppose it is an American thing, but... well, you get the idea.
