Doctor's email arrived this morning reminding me that I have a colonoscopy appointment on the 18th and that I have a seven-day low-residue-diet prep. Also that this time around I'm going to need to buy and use Miralax twice a day during that week. I have enough time to get hold of Ensure Clear- assuming I can find any that doesn't have dyes on the no-no list- and Gatorade Fit, which is the no-dyes low-sugar stevia version flavored with fruit juice and doped with questionable amounts of supplemental vitamins, as well as suitable actual foods. Can't eat beans-as-beans during that time, or lentils, but tofu is okay since the fiber's all long since gone. Meats are generally okay so long as they're fully cooked and tender, which leaves me considering the possibilities of super extra careful bacon (I haven't had bacon since leaving Italy, and even then it wasn't bacon, it was guanciale- different part of the pig).
... dangit, now that I think about it, corn's on the no-no list too. And peas. As if having to give up chick peas and all my favorite beans for a week wasn't bad enough.
I've had the actual nuclear laxative since June, since their systems shipped it as soon as I made my appointment. I called the pharmacy yesterday to verify its shelf life; the woman I spoke to said that as long as the expiration date was still in the future and as long as I hadn't mixed the Suprep, I'd be fine. I checked the box last night and while I didn't see the words 'expiration date' at the time I did see 'throw away after 6/11/2024', so it looks as if I should be good.
Oh, and as for the mammo from last week, I got my results back on that too. Everything looks the same as it did last year and I get the usual disclaimer of 'you've got heterogenously dense tissue so that's going to cause some problems distinguishing a few things' in my last paragraph. I'm okay with that.
ETA: surprise! Doctor is apparently going to be out of the office that day, so I have to reschedule, and my options are Nov. 10 at a time that means I'll be going home in a taxi during evening rush hour, Nov. 15 at a time when I'd be taking a taxi into the morning rush hour, the day before Thanksgiving, or the Monday after Thanksgiving!
AAAH HAHAHAH HAHAHA HAHAHAH no. At least, as far as those last two.
I'll take the Nov. 10 appointment. Beats the alternatives.
