Status report

camwynHave written first page of term paper. One down, thirteen to go. If I can produce three pages a night between now and Monday all should be well. Should not be a problem; it's mostly a matter of reading specs on XML standards and translating them into English. 1 pg. per standard is the prof's recommendation. I can pull that off, I think. I'll have to do the comparisons at the end, of course, that's the hard part, but I can do that. To make sure I'm writing enough, I'm currently using 11-point Times New Roman, double spaced, with 1-inch margins on all sides. The text will go up to a standard 12-point size and the margins to standard 1.25 inch sides, 1-inch top/bottom, when the time comes to turn this in. (1.2 in. if the 1.25 looks too big.) Prof. Chang wants comparisons of as many standards as possible and I have what I think are the most important ones.
Throat hurts. Went to bed last night with persistent tickly cough down back of throat. Woke up this morning with definite post-nasal drip. Actual nose is very dry but somewhat blocked up near the top. Not happy about this as swallowing is currently not most pleasant of endeavours, nor is talking. If this continues will sound like Miles Davis by nightfall. Going to keep on keeping on at office as I have karate tonight and do not intend to miss it unless absolutely necessary.
Got most of way through chargen last night with new character, Kevin. Kevin's gonna be fuuuuun... there's more than a touch of Barry Ween in him, but he's also got the advantage of the a genre rule I haven't added yet. While it is possible to raise an eminently well-rounded child in modern civilization, if you want someone really outstanding, raise them as primitively as possible. You just can't buy that kind of physical and survival skill in the modern world, and if they're decently quick learners they'll make up for their lack of formal education in the space of less than a year.
Have begun process of selling off crap that I find as I clean up my room. Latest sale: Superbabes, the FemForce RPG. Waiting to hear from the buyer on how they want it shipped, they're in Canada and there's several options depending on how fast they want the thing. Very few of my things are being sold on eBay- they go to Amazon instead, where I can. They take a bigger chunk but I don't have to pay a listing fee unless the item sells. Older RPGs, though, go to eBay. And really crappy books I know I'm never gonna read again and can't get more than a buck or two from just get boxed up and put away. No sense selling for $2 when the commission is 99 cents plus a percentage of the sale price.

cadhla: if there is to be a transit strike in NY it will most likely begin on Monday the 16th. The last strike was in the 80s and lasted eleven days. The MTA, which runs the trains, is trying to get an injunction against the strike. If the strike happens I will need 4 ppl in the car to enter or leave Manhattan by car. Make friends on the plane and I will happily drive 'em into the city but in the meantime I have to find alternate routes to La Guardia, 'cos there's no way I can get three extra people to go in on the way to pick you up.
