Didn't get to work with it yet but I did download the manual- they ship it with a quick-start guide and a few other small documents. Worth noting, this is the first thing I have ever owned that came with a printed warning saying 'not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the sewing machine by a person responsible for their safety'. It's the kind of phrasing that reminds me of the saying that safety regulations are written in blood.

Oh, hello beautiful machine!

And yeah, you can hurt yourself with a sewing machine easily. They require dexterity and attention, and are not for everyone!

I love how the instructions say roughly 'If you don't know what this machine is about, get an adult who does know", I think my brothers forgot those lessons our mother gave us about her sewing machine. (I'm not lending it back to them because paying $40 to repair the bullshit one did by messing with the tension knob is annoying as hell)

I have my grandmother's Singer machine from the 1980s, which didn't seem all that old a thing until I realized that 1980 was 40 years ago.

If you stumble upon any tips and/or tricks in your practice please to be letting me know about them. Because I'm largely making it up as I go.

I'd suggest going to somewhere like thriftbooks.com and looking for older editions of the Singer Sewing Book, from before the whole 'computerized' sewing machine trend. There's a lot of good basic introductory stuff in there. I'd also suggest some of the introductory written stuff on mybluprint.com - they used to be Craftsy. I don't know what their situation is with subscriptions, patterns, purchases, whatever just at the moment, but a lot of the written section is still accessible without a subscription.
