I'm just showing off some wire work I've been practicing. Once I get to the point where I feel like it'd be worthwhile to use precious metal wire instead of the stainless steel I'm learning on, it'll be another story.




Sparkly dark blue goldstone cabochon in stainless steel wire wrap frame, with curlicues of steel wire up towards the top to use up the last few centimeters of wire. Fun fact: poking the cut end of a stainless steel wire, whether square or half-round, hurts a LOT more than poking the end of an equivalent-gauge copper wire, and draws more blood. Safety first, kids.

Seriously. I love blue goldstone for that exact reason. It's manmade- it's a kind of glass with metal flecks in it- but the blue variety is seriously reminiscent of a properly dark night sky. (The brown variety, which was the first kind made, is not nearly as pretty in my opinion.)

So pretty! And when you do get to sterling and gold instead of stainless, you'll be amazed at how much easier it is to work.
