Throat's sore, eyes hurt, nose is stuffed, sides are stiff, didn't sleep well last night. I've had my flu vaccination for the year but given the studies that came out recently indicating that vaccinating year after year can screw up the body's ability to fend off flu viruses properly under certain circumstances, I'm a little nervous. I'm taking daytime Mucinex Sinus-Max and sitting back with hot beverages and hoping I don't have to crack open the Buckley's.

Other than that things are going well. Thanksgiving went all right. I got to take my older niblings ice skating on Friday; it was their first time. They really enjoyed it, too. Took 'em about forty-five minutes to get the hang of managing away from the wall. I'm proud to report that I was able to maintain upright posture well enough to catch them a few times, at least by the hands, without moving. The only time I fell down was when my niece went down in front of me and I didn't have time to avert a skate blade collision.

I think I need to get back into ice skating. It's been years, but I really do enjoy it.

I haven't heard that study about the flu jab and we're still offering it yearly - is it a credible study and one I could have a read of do you happen to know?

It's a reasonably credible study, but it's mostly been pursued in children rather than adults from what I can tell. here, this may be of some use:

They haven't entirely isolated the effect and even the people conducting the study still call for annual immunizations, but it's something I was considering when I woke up this morning feeling blegh.

There's a pretty terrible strain that leads to bronchitis going around down here. I got it JUST as I was getting over Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (yeah, uh, it's been a bad few months for me) and it knocked me on my ASS.
