Oct. 22nd, 2015 08:29 amJustice League: War was almost as painful to watch as Throne of Atlantis.
Justice League: Gods and Monsters, however, was fantastic.
(And there is a tiny part of the back of my brain that kinda wants to try out the Hernan Guerra Superman in RP, since he's not the same character as Clark Kent/Kal-El.)

Date: 2015-10-22 02:00 pm (UTC)I can't speak to whether the villains were true to their usual characterizations or not. Darkseid seemed about right in War, but that's Darkseid. Ocean Master gave the impression of being powered entirely by ham. Black Manta was in about the same league. I don't know if they're like that on a regular basis. The only Black Manta I'm familiar with is the one in Young Justice, and this was not Kaldur'ahm's father, so I can't judge this one by those standards.
Gods and Monsters was pretty dark, but even with the darkness it had better writing and, frankly, gave us what I genuinely felt were morally better protagonists by the end of the story. Even if they had been killing people from day one. They were capable of changing themselves, once they recognized what needed to be done.
Plus, gotta admit, the Gods and Monsters version of Lex Luthor was kind of amazing.
