Every so often, if I've been playing a character for any length of time, I get an image of them stuck in my head that has next to nothing to do with whatever it is they're actually involved with ICly at the moment. And then I'm stuck with it until a plot comes along somewhere down the line that I realize I can use to make the image happen. Way back when Milliways was on LJ instead of Dreamwidth, I had been carrying around the thought of Harry Wells stuck somewhere so far out of the way that there were no aeroplane contrails across the sky or motor noises anywhere, and so far from industrialization that he had to use a homemade football. When the Stone Angels plot came along and the centerpiece of the plot was "your pup gets stuck in another pup's chronologically-earlier-than-their-own world until a way can be found to return them to Milliways" I took the opportunity to drop Harry into Hephaestos' version of ancient Greece, since it matched up with the mental image pretty nicely. It's happened with a couple of other pups and plots along the way, and it's usually been pretty entertaining. Never did get to follow through on the image of Ellen being inadvertently dropped into the MCU's WW II European theater and irritably smashing her way through German lines until she found somebody who spoke English, alas.

I bring this up because recently I have seen a couple of still shots and GIFs from the History Channel's Vikings show, and while I know nothing about the show and not much about the actual history involved (a few basics having to do with Vinland and Greenland and the extent to which their trade goods have been found throughout the world, mostly), I'm pretty sure I'm going to wind up stuck with having to torment at least one of my pups with an 'I really hope you're up for weapon-and-shield combat, because guess what' moment. Not sure who'd be more entertaining, Shephard or Pentecost.

... that made more sense in my head.

If I had more time and could depend on my ability to play, I might be tempted to app Floki from that series. ; p

"so far out of the way that there were no aeroplane contrails across the sky"

... so, say, Australia?

(No, seriously. I had only ever seen a contrail, like, twice before I went to Europe, and I live in one of our biggest cities. The sky is so chained over your end of the world!)

(THE REST OF THIS POST IS AWESOME, THOUGH. If you ever do it, post links!)
