Actually, we've got an agreement going more than any kind of a protocol. Winston's always been pretty firmly intent on completing his afterlife transit in one go if at all possible. Spengs intends to stay on this side of the etheric barrier and pass on as much information as he can while he's still coherent. Venkman says as long as the first thing he sees when he dies isn't a mass of all the angry spirits we've pissed off along the way, he's not going to bother trying anything one way or the other and just see what happens to him when he goes. Any uncharacteristic behavior from the ghost of either Venkman or Spengler, or the appearance of Zeddemore's ghost at all, is grounds for getting out the traps and packs and sigils and big scary books of Latin and Sumerian ritual.
