(no subject)

The skating in Liberty State Park is lovely. I took a spill and scraped quite a lot of my left thigh, but martial arts training had me rolling properly and coming up on my butt rather than leaving skin over the entire pavement, so that's all right then. I've found sacred space in that park and if it wants a little of my blood and skin in exchange for the right to use it, I'll pay that price.

Quite a lot of kites today. I need to go down there and bring one of mine next time I get the chance.

Going to go take a bath now and do something about that scraped thigh.

Isshin kenpo karate, a form about... oh, 35 years of age, formalized in New Jersey. Bit of a synthesis between isshin ryu and the kenpo forms. I was within a few weeks of testing for blue belt when I moved to Jersey City- I'm not currently training but I'm gonna start looking for a new school if I can find one, or at least some form of karate.

I am, historically, not good at falling. When I was small I broke my falls most of the time with my chin, because I was afraid of breaking my hands. In this particular case, my right wrist hit the ground first, then my thigh- but I had enough control to roll with it and take the rest of the force across my butt so that I came up properly.
