Why I like sitting where I do:

There are bluejays whipping past my window. Someone's found a bunch of available acorns, and now the jays are scooping up one or two at a time and landing in the trees outside my window while they decide what to do about the situation.

One of them has decided to hop down just below my side windowsill and bury his or hers in the soil that ramps up from our outside walk to 6 in. below window height. Doesn't seem to mind when I stand up and watch.

Why I dislike sitting where I do: My stomach is still somewhat turned by what I have determined is a mild bout of food poisoning (the alternative, political disgust, is very poetic but does not match with my symptoms - too bad). Combine this with the fact that my eyes start to ache when I'm ill, regardless of what kind of illness it is, and that this ache has led to increased sensitivity to light and motion - and that my front window looks out on US Highway 46 - and ugh.

On the bright side, I have been asked to resuscitate a mission-critical laptop computer for our fundraising/PR director. I may be able to weasel out of the monthly staff meeting if the machine isn't in working condition by the time it starts. And since several people know how my guts feel just now, I won't have to eat the pizza they're providing, either. (I like pizza, but not the choice of toppings we usually get, and someone else always finishes off the plain before I arrive.)

Scanning that laptop as we speak. The boot sector wouldn't read when I used the McAfee magic disk to boot up, so I want to see if there's a physical cause before I do aught else. Means I can't do aught else to the machine until it's done, so I'm listening to one of the two soundtracks I put together for the ruler of VicMage.Asia.China; it's still in the first half of the CD, which is representative of an extremely difficult upbringing. If anyone in the game wants to get something of a sneak preview without risk of spoiler, I can throw the soundtrack listings in their direction and let them try to deduce what they can of it...?

Kyle?

The hurricane-in-the-works in the Atlantic is named Kyle?

Is this Judd Winick's pet storm, or is it named after the kid on South Park?

BAHAHAHAHA!!!

(Yes, this has been an attempt to end the local drought through mockery.)

Hmm... there's a whole flock of sparrows perched in the tree just outside my window, and all of them are grooming. They don't normally do this unless the weather's about to get ugly. I might have some rain tonight. Unrelated to Kyle, he's 600 miles away from Bermuda let alone here, but still.

Just sayin'.
