Not sure what that was on the rug just now. Pretty sure it came from the cats. I suppose it's a sign of something that my response to putting my toe into something wet and squishy was more 'oh, good, it's not poop, but I'm getting the enzymatic cleaner anyway' than 'AIEEE'. Bugger if I know what, though.

Speaking of bugger, I've started on the outline for the next Hellblazer: Hogwarts chapter. It's time for John's first day behind the desk. I'm debating having him attempt a roll call just because he doesn't know who the kids are, but that would cut the knees out of the wonderful "... TIM?" moment of mistaken recognition.

Don't suppose the "TIM?" moment would work if moved to the start of class, and then have that be his impetus to give in and do roll call?

Of course, they might've given him a sheet of (wizard) pictures of the kids, which would explain why no one ever seems to do roll call in the books. Or have some other way of tallying who's there and letting him know the name to use when calling on that person.

Definitely comedy gold to be mined by having him act like a teacher from OUR world instead of a Hogwarts-world teacher. :->

Actually, if you go all the way back to Philosopher's Stone, both Flitwick and Snape are mentioned as having taken the register at the beginning of their first classes.

Ah, cool. I did not remember that. :)
