I'm home.
I'm safe. I had great fun at the party even though I accidentally killed ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
akawil's computer. I'm still really sorry for that.
Because I have been neglecting the Diary lately, I promised myself that I would get out my King George penny and place it on top of my monitor again, to call the King to witness that there would be Sergeant Preston stuff written each day (to be averaged over the course of a week, as there are some birthdays and family things this month that may eat my time). I also promised myself that I'd not go to bed tonight until I'd read at least one story in The Scarlet Riders, since I've owned the damn thing a month or more and hadn't yet cracked it open. I picked a story that the prologue said was good and realistic and featured more in the way of conflict with the elements than gunplay.
Methinks encountering a story where the hero is so very brain-frazzled by blood loss due to gunshot wound and by hypothermia due to the Canadian winter all around him that he has to cross miles and miles of territory entirely on autopilot- on the strength of the idea that You Have A Duty, Now DO IT- is something of an omen. Yep. Penny in the morning. Writing when I get the chance. But the Diary's next. Beyond a doubt.
