Today I went to Treasure Island, a local chain craft store. I was after yarn, and spent quite some time trying to decide on whether I wanted two skeins of Lion Brand's sport weight Wool-Ease or just one. After I made up my mind (one), I went upstairs and began poking through the Christmas section. I was hoping to find a decent card to send out, since I do not draw holiday cards like
cadhla and have yet to figure out how to knit one. I didn't find anything. That's okay, the holidays are a ways off...
The thing is that the area with the cards in it is also full of Christmas trees, and one of them could really only be described as a Hogswatch tree. No other word for it, even if Hogswatch trees are supposed to be oak, not conifer. It was a needley tree of some kind, and it was
completely covered in, well, pigs. Almost every single ornament on the tree was shaped like a pig. Where there weren't pigs, there were a few cows, or the occasional Santa in overalls and the sort of boots one uses to wade through layers of pig doo. And anywhere that didn't have an ornament had what looked like sheaves of wheat and other harvesty things poking out of it.
It's a Hogswatch tree. What else can I say?
