New speed record in People Are Looking For That: just got passed by a runner. Heard a tink!, saw a black and yellow glove on the pavement. Had to yell to a womah half a block ahead of me to stop him 'cos he didn't hear me yell.

Turned out he had a house key in said glove.

Dammit, people, either stop dropping things or look down and pick them up more often.

The latest addition to the list of Things Cam Has Found Which People Are Probably Looking For? It had a guy's name and address on it, which, fine, whatever, but it also had the name, address, and logo of a nearby business. One I've used myself.

Atrius Health.

It was the summarized version of a medical history- past visits, existing conditions, current prescriptions, etc.- that you get from them after a visit to your doctor.

As soon as I realized what it was I folded it up and stuck it in my purse, because the gentleman in question had dropped it several blocks away from the nearest Atrius facility. They were still open, so I handed the document to one of their receptionists and suggested that someone probably ought to let the man know he'd dropped it. I don't know what happened after that, but... good Lord, people. Do yourselves a favour and be careful if you're carrying something with that much personally identifying info.

Add another one to the list of Things Cam Has Found Lying In The Street Or Other Highly Trafficked Public Area, But Which People Are Probably Looking For. Previous entrants have included: a preschool application containing multiple addresses, phone numbers, and social security numbers; a wallet containing a good bit of cash, several business cards, and an uncashed check; about half of a marketing presentation; and a Fedex envelope addressed to someone at the district attorney's office.

Today's was a notice of warrant cancellation issued by the Trial Court of Massachusetts. It's one of those documents that includes the line KEEP THIS NOTICE ON YOUR PERSON AS EVIDENCE OF THE CANCELLATION, so you'd think it wouldn't have landed in the street without an envelope.

It's got an address on it. I'll be taking it to the post office at lunch. Seems like the kind of thing that ought to be documented on its way back to its target.
